Starting out: a guide to losing weight for beginners

Guide to losing weight by our lean journey

Starting a weight journey can be overwhelming, as there is a lot to learn and understand. I understand this, as I too was once a novice on my own weight loss journey. At Our Lean Journey, I want to help you lose weight and get healthy, and I want to share some of the tips and insights that I have gained along the way. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, get fit, or simply improve your overall health, these tips can help guide you on your journey. Remember, everyone starts as a beginner, and with time, patience and effort, you can achieve your goals.

Let’s get started, shall we?

Take it slow:

With so much information available online about losing, it can be overwhelming, making it difficult to know where to start. My advice is to begin with the basics.

When it comes to exercise, don’t try to lift the heaviest weights or attempt all exercises at once, especially on your first day at the gym. Instead, start with small and manageable steps, such as starting with lighter weights, fewer reps and basic exercises. Gradually increase the intensity and complexity of your workout as you progress.

Also, don’t force yourself to eat foods you dislike, start with small changes and gradually adapt. The key to a successful fitness journey is to start with the basics and gradually build upon them.

Just start:

There will never be a perfect day to begin your weight loss journey, so don’t wait for one. You don’t need a fancy gym or a specific day of the week, all you need is the determination to make a change. The best time to start is now, so don’t put it off any longer. Take small steps today, like swapping soda for water, going for a walk, or prepping healthy vegetables. Instead of just saving workout videos on Instagram, take action and make progress towards your goals.

Do what you love:

To set yourself up for success in your weight loss journey, it’s important to choose activities and foods that you enjoy. If running is not for you, find an alternative exercise that you do enjoy. If you don’t like beans, don’t force yourself to eat them. Instead, find recipes that you do enjoy and make them a part of your healthy lifestyle. Remember, weight loss is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix diet, so make sure it works for you and is sustainable in the long run.

Start with small changes:

Success in weight loss often comes from small, consistent changes. Instead of making drastic overhauls to your diet and exercise routine, start by making small adjustments. Drink more water, add more vegetables to your meals, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or walk instead of driving short distances. These small changes can make a big difference in the long run. By gradually incorporating new habits into your lifestyle, it becomes more sustainable and eventually becomes a way of life.

Stay consistent:

One of the most important aspects of weight loss success is consistency. It’s not enough to make temporary changes or have a sporadic approach, for real results you need to make it a habit and a lifestyle. The key to this is consistency, making sure you are sticking to your healthy habits day in and day out. Only then will you see real progress and achieve your weight loss goals.

So keep pushing forward, keep working towards your goals and one day, you’ll wake up to the new, healthier version of yourself. Keep going and you’ll get there! Cheers to your success!
